"Kike" (female in Swahili) sheds light on the tokenistic celebration of a few women over a diversity of women. The short-film addresses the selective appreciation of female figures that often occupy elite spaces, have a seat at exclusive tables, or are otherwise prevented from participating meaningfully. Instead, Kike hopes to uplift diverse female voices across political, economic, social, and cultural spheres. The film was a submission to The Generation Equality Film Festival, which took place during the Generation Equality Forum, a global gathering for gender equality convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the governments of Mexico and France with the partnership of civil society. Kike emerged in the semi-final under the Feminist movements and Leadership category.
