Njung’e Wanjiru is a Kenyan visual artist working across illustration, animation, graphic recording, and moving image.
Njung’e Wanjiru is a Nairobi-based multi-disciplinary visual artist. Attuned to African African visual culture and contemporary narratives, he explores the themes of identity, belonging, culture, nature, and future worlds. His work moves across storytelling, social impact projects, research, exhibitions, commissions, and public art.
Through design, drawing, animation, and graphic recording, Njung’e translates complex ideas into visuals that feel thoughtful, accessible, and engaging. Njung’e collaborates with organisations, communities, and institutions to communicate ideas with clarity, empathy, and emotional resonance.
His personal and exhibited works open space for reflection, memory, and alternative ways of understanding.
Njung’e creates inclusive, culturally grounded visual narratives: colourful, warm, playful, and experimental, drawn from people, stories, public space, and everyday moments. Moving between Nairobi, Addis Ababa, and beyond, his visual language is shaped by streets, conversations, nature, community spaces, and the layered visual life of African cities.
When he is not drawing, Njung’e can often be found drinking coffee and reading books, petting cats, experimenting with recipes, or hiking through landscapes that continue to shape how he looks at place, nature, and everyday life.
