Njung’e Wanjiru is a Kenyan visual artist in the media/medium of illustration, graphic recording, animation, and filmmaking. Through visual communication and documentation, Njung’e captures, archives, and transforms diverse knowledges, perspectives, and ideas. As a digital native, Njung’e creates visual art that explores the intersections of African culture, social narratives, and technology. His artworks make reference to the concepts of nature,
heritage, representation, and accessibility. As a filmmaker, he has featured short films, such as Ndoto or Kike.

Collaborations
As a freelance illustrator, graphic recorder, animator, and art director, he has work experience across international organizations, the nonprofit sector, and the cultural industry. The list of partners and clients includes different offices and departments of UNICEF, WWF, Adobe, WHO, AU, GIZ, C40, Bomas of Kenya,terre des hommes/ General Comment on Children’s Rights and the Environment, the International Disability Alliance (IDA), SPACE10 Research and design lab supported by IKEA, IPBES, Starlight Africa as well as several musicians.
Artivism and Residencies
Njung’e took part in both UNICEF’s first “Youth Mediathon” and the design-thinking project "Youth Power Hack" by Restless Development, Project Everyone, and Unilever. Beyond that, Njung'e is a recent fellow of the ArtXChange Program “Connecting Creative Youth in Africa and Europe” in partnership with The GoDown Arts Centre in Kenya and funded by the European Commission as part of their AU-EU Youth Cooperation Hub. As part of this, he exhibited in Rome for an art residency by the International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) Kenya.
